Why bother?

In the grand scheme of things, this news seems a bit insignificant in light of other current events However, it is significant in the world of Social Media. As mainstream audiences embrace new media, every subtle nuance introduced from here on out reverberates across the social landscapes that define, shape, and dictate its evolution and [...]

When
Google Buzz debuted a month ago, integrating a new social network into your
GMail, it did not roll out to business accounts running GMail on
Google Apps. At the time, the company promised Apps customers would see Buzz added "
within a few months", but if
Susan Beebe's account is any indication, Buzz is already getting rolled out beyond consumer users.
The social sharing service, which took some initial criticism for aggressive connecting and transparency, taking a step into the...

So it bucketed down Golf balls here in Melbourne Saturday…well, it did where I lived, some media are reporting hail as big as lemons.
One of the few times I’ve ever been scared in weather (other times nearly exclusively on aircraft.) I actually pulled Declan away from the windows because I was scared that the hail would shatter them. The noise is something I’ll never forget: we have a colourbond roof, OMG it was loud.
I didn’t keep a full tally of how long it took for the media to cover it, but my general observations: slow.
The Age was first with...

Increased use of
Twitter has made the users sharing and clicking on links more attractive to both legitimate businesses and ill intended people looking to steal passwords or guide you to unsavory sites. Seemingly each week there are new stories about phishing attempts that prey on direct messages (DMs) from trusted people, and if compromised, these accounts could lead to more spam, just spreading the mess further.
SocialToo, a company led by
Jesse Stay, and one where I am an advisor, has opted to take a proactive...

Twitter's growing ranks continue to swell practically every Monday this year, and today is no exception, as the blue birded microblogging service added four more to its arsenal today with an interesting mix of well-known tech faces and a curveball, also taking on an executive from a franchise furniture store in San Francisco. The latest hires take the company's full-time roster closer to 150, and swell the number being followed on their
official list to more than 170.
Last night, you could see three of the four new hires...

Facebook recently overtook Yahoo as the second most visited site in the United States. And in doing so, Facebook along with other social networks set the stage for a confluence of social and search that fundamentally changes who we, as a society, discover and share information, and in turn, where our attention is directed and [...]

BBC: Melbourne death causes diplomatic strain
Relations between India and Australia have been put under strain following the death of a three year old Indian boy in Melbourne.
And yet
A 23-year-old Indian national has been charged with manslaughter, due to criminal negligence, over the death of three-year-old Gurshan Singh Channa.
I’ve got nothing against Indian people, but as goes their Government, this isn’t a country we should be trying with any more. This is a country that cries racism even when their own citizens are committing the crimes.

Seriously
Turns out an Indian kills an Indian….
I feel bad for all deaths, but where is the police here?
